A new patient evaluation includes a health history, spinal exam, computerized spinal scans using digital infrared imaging technology, and laser-aligned cervical x-rays. Any previous medical records including x-rays, MRI's, lab tests, etc. will be reviewed. The evaluation requires approximately 60-90 minutes to complete. Following the review and analysis of your diagnostic tests, Dr. Elster will review with you the examination findings and plan for treatment.


After the evaluation, regular care begins, which involves computerized spinal scanning on each visit, as well as an upper cervical chiropractic adjustment as needed. The goal of care is to correct the misalignment of the upper cervical spine until it stabilizes in its correct position thereby allowing injured nerves, muscles, and soft tissue to heal.

Most patients achieve initial results within the first two to four weeks of care and continue to improve over the following weeks or months of care. Healing time varies and depends upon several factors including the age of the patient, severity of the condition, and the length of time the condition has been present.

Average care regimen for adults: On average a patient is seen two times per week for two to four weeks; one time per week during the second month; once every other week for the third month; and once per month until complete stabilization of the injury occurs. However, each individual's care plan is specifically designed for his or her case. Pediatric cases typically require less care than adults.


Insurance coverage for chiropractic varies and your company may or may not cover chiropractic services, may have limitations on the number of paid visits, and may have a deductible or exclusions. Dr. Elster is NOT a participating provider with any insurance companies such as PPO's, HMO's, Kaiser or Medicare. Dr. Elster would be considered an "out of network chiropractic provider" for all insurance plans. To determine whether you have coverage, please contact your insurance company directly and ask if you have chiropractic benefits for an "out of network chiropractic provider." While Dr. Elster does not bill insurance, she will assist you in filing claims by writing insurance reports and by providing you with an insurance receipt that you can send directly to your company for reimbursement. Fees are payable in the form of cash, check, or credit card (visa/mastercard) when services are rendered.

Medicare patients: Please be advised that Dr. Elster is not a Medicare provider. Therefore, no reimbursement will be possible from Medicare or from supplemental insurance for any services rendered in Dr. Elster's office.
